Please Join Us for a Meeting of Community Support Groups

So many great, selfless, and charitable things happen in Yarmouth each and every day! Whether through an organization, a community group, or as individuals, we care about each other in myriad ways, making Yarmouth the vibrant and wonderful place to live that it is.

In keeping with that spirit, we are bringing community members together to recognize the work that is being done and to do a “pulse check” on what needs still exist, are not being met effectively, or are developing. The event will take place

Monday, March 30, 2015
at Merrill Memorial Library
on the 3rd floor
starting promptly at 6:30 pm

We encourage you to arrive between 5:45 pm and 6:15 pm to sign in and have a chance for some informal conversation with other attendees! Light refreshments will be available. If you plan on attending, please RSVP to bcostell@maine.rr.com.

We welcome you to stop by if you find yourself suddenly free that evening, but the conversation can be more productive if we know in advance how many people will attend. We invite you to join the discussion, along with the following organizations that have confirmed their attendance:

  • First Baptist Church
  • First Parish Church
  • Lions Club
  • Merrill Memorial Library
  • Rotary Club
  • St. Bartholomew’s Church
  • Village Improvement Society
  • Yarmouth Cares About Neighbors (YCAN)
  • Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce
  • Yarmouth Community Services
  • Yarmouth School Department
  • Yarmouth Senior Housing

If you plan to attend, please be prepared to give a brief and concise (1 – 2 minute) overview of:

  • your group’s mission
  • the population that you serve
  • the activities or programs that you currently offer

During the facilitated conversation that follows, there will be a chance to discuss both needs that are not being addressed and ones that may develop in the future. Since we have limited time together, our discussion will be most fruitful if you could make a list of current and future needs you are aware of beforehand.

If your organization or group has any literature it would like to share, you are welcome to bring it to the meeting. There will be a table set up to help distribute such information.

We hope that each attendee will gain:

  • an appreciation for the work each of us is doing
  • a broader understanding of what more we can do to help those who need it
  • a pool of resources from which to draw partners for collaboration, should we choose.

We’d like to recognize Lift360, a non-profit in Portland which offers a continuum of programs including consulting services that help nonprofits successfully address their challenges and issues as well as take advantage of new opportunities. They have graciously agreed to facilitate the evening.

We hope you will add your voice to the mix!
