Need a Tall Planter for use when Standing or Sitting?

Do you, a friend, or a relative need a planter that is
tall enough to use standing or sitting?
If so, we invite you to
reserve one now, then join us
at 3:30pm on May 31st, 2018
at Yarmouth High School
when we assemble
twelve lovely cedar boxes
that are tall enough to stand or sit at
and will easily fit on your back deck or in your back yard.

Thanks to the contributions of
Hancock Lumber (discount on materials), Estabrooks (in kind), Garbage to Garden (compost), Yarmouth Lions (construction help), and YCAN (funding),
the cost for each box will only be $25.
You are invited to come assist with the assembly of your box,
or have one of our helpers assemble it for you.

A Matter of Balance Workshop

Have you noticed changes in your balance or do you have concerns about falling? You can stay active and independent.

A Matter of Balance is a nationally recognized program designed to help you manage falls and increase activity levels. This workshop includes gentle exercises with additional components, including group discussion, home safety, assertiveness skill building, and a visit from a guest healthcare professional.

The workshop will be will be held from 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm every Tuesday from May 23rd through June 27th at:

266 Foreside Rd
Falmouth

The workshop will have between 12 and 15 participants, so register soon by calling 207-396-6500.

Aging in Place: Community Project is Off and Running

Yarmouth is committed to supporting our residents to “age in place” in their own homes/community, comfortably, safely, and independently, regardless of physical ability, age, or income.

Since Spring 2015 this project has been under development to design supportive programs for seniors. Our planning process was supported by the Town of Yarmouth, YCAN (Yarmouth Cares about Neighbors), and the Cumberland County Development Block Grant Program.

The plan is complete and community volunteers are hard at work implementing what residents requested in the community wide survey completed last winter. Successful programs already underway or nearing completion include:

  • Volunteer snow shovel brigade
  • List of local social opportunities already available for seniors
  • Informational brochure on fuel assistance, affordable housing, and food security
  • STAY (Senior Tax Assistance for Yarmouth)
  • Home companion/health services information for seniors and their caregivers
  • Yarmouth Senior Rides
  • List of reliable vendors/contractors
  • Application process for home modifications

We look forward to working with you to make Yarmouth a more age friendly community.
