It’s a familiar photo that warms the heart – kids playing in the snow with warm boots, hats, jackets and snow pants. Remember the joy that used to bring? Operation Bundle Up, a program of Yarmouth Cares About Neighbors (YCAN), was started to insure that Yarmouth residents of all ages will have warm clothes this winter. Collection of new or lightly used coats, hats & scarves, waterproof gloves, snow pants, and boots has started. In partnership with Yarmouth Community Services, YCAN hopes to provide all the warm clothes needed to keep Yarmouth residents – young and old – enjoying the outdoors this winter.
The need for boots of all sizes and waterproof gloves is especially high this year
Already, many people have donated coats, but Operation Bundle Up is especially in need of men’s boots sizes 8, 9 and 10 and women’s boots sizes 7,8 and 9. Children’s boots are always useful too. In addition, the need for waterproof gloves for men, women and children is high too. All sizes are useful. Operation Bundle Up can always use hats and scarves too.
Please be sure to look all donated items over well. We are grateful for all lightly used donations. Ideally, all donations will have working zippers and velcro, no stains or holes, with straps that work.
All donations should be dropped off at Yarmouth Community Services in the lower level of the Yarmouth Town Hall (where the Police Dept was formerly located).
YCAN will also purchase new warm winter items if needed. If you wish to donate to YCAN or Operation Bundle Up to help, simply click here or please make checks payable to Yarmouth CAN, and mail to: Yarmouth CAN, P.O. Box 553, Yarmouth, ME 04096. To designate your funds for Operation Bundle Up, please make a note in the memo area of your check.
It’s time to head to the closet and find all those winter items – especially boots and waterproof gloves – that you no longer need. Yarmouth residents in need will be incredibly grateful for your gift of warmth this winter. Thank you in advance for your donation!
